I represent real people who are really injured, and I love it. I love it for all the reasons we love any David vs. Goliath story. The underdog should not win, but win he does. My clients are always “Davids” going toe-to-toe against corporate “Goliaths”- whether businesses or insurance companies. Without a skilled and experienced attorney to represent them, these Davids would never stand a chance. Cost ought never impede justice; I will only be paid if my client is paid. I am counsel for the Davids.
Have you ever seen images of “Lady Justice” and wondered why she is often seen blindfolded? The blindfold represents the impartiality and objectivity of the law. Justice does not let outside factors such as power, wealth, or fame influence her decisions. Lady Justice is blind to those factors and that is critical to fair and impartial rulings. Ultimately, and if necessary, civil cases are decided by a jury of your peers, fellow Davids. Six men and women are cloaked with the necessary power to issue verdicts that hold corporations responsible. Though admittedly not perfect, it is a beautiful system of justice that truly balances the scales and makes all persons equal under the law.
I have been litigating civil negligence cases for more than 23 years. The first decade or so I worked for the Goliaths- learning their battle style and rules of engagement. It was interesting but also soul-sucking work. As soon as I completed this necessary training, I began representing only real people, real clients, “plaintiffs” who had grievances and who desperately needed justice. Once I got my first taste of that I knew I would never be able to go back. I will spend the rest of my professional career taking on the causes of the individual, passionately giving my clients my time, attention, and craft. I will rejoice with them when justice is served and compensation obtained, and in so doing, I will consider myself blessed for having been granted such a sacred responsibility.
